My coworker, Blake, and I attended an AIGA meeting this morning. The speaker was a lawyer, David Ratner, a Principal attorney at the Creative Law Network here in Denver. He provides services to businesses and freelancers, and offers his services to the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) and Colorado Attorneys for the Arts (CAFTA).
I may have dominated this entire session with my questions about copyright, trademark and engineers who like to steal from the web. And then I stayed late and talked with him a bit further. He was more prepared to talk about freelancing questions like how to file for a trademark or when to register your business as an LLC vs. an S-Corp. But I did get some useful info.
